Over two centuries of expertise

Founded in 1795, Edard is one of the oldest French companies. Specializing in mechanical closures for bottles and jars, we have gone through the ages by developing innovative solutions adapted to our customers' needs.

The Edard adventure began in Paris with the handcrafting of cork stoppers. Then in 1860, the main factory was transferred to Arques, in Pas-de-Calais, with the creation of a glass factory. The production of colored glass bottles was then very successful and employed more than 1000 employees until 1953.

It was at this time that Edard began manufacturing swing stoppers for beer bottles reaching volumes of more than thirty million pieces per year. Edard then diversified in 1960 with the production of closures for jars. The story continues with the acquisition, in 1995, of its second production site in Alsace, then in 2010 with the purchase of a larger production site in Duttlenheim in order to honor its order volumes in the best conditions.

Thanks to these 2 centuries of history, Edard has developed a know-how and a unique experience that allow us today to be an essential reference on the global swing stoppers market and to offer products combining tradition, performance and modernity.
